Over a year ago, my younger brother Arnaud came to me and said he wanted to do the New York City Marathon for it's 40th anniversary.
Andrea and I were very excited for him, the big apple race is such a prestigious event. My parents both did it two times and I remember watching the 89 and 94 VHS on TV as a child.
A week later, we decided to join Arnaud for this experience. After years of triathlon racing, this will be our first marathon. My Dad also followed, for him it's a come back after twenty years.
Everyone who has run a bit knows of this race and visiting New York as a runner supported by thousands of people will be an awesome feeling!
Opposite to my brother, Andrea and I haven't done a serious preparation as our triathlon season finished at the end of September and we needed time to relax and recover!
It doesn't matter about our performance here, Arnaud wants to do 2h59 and I will try my best to help him to achieve his goal. Andrea will run alongside my Dad .
What a way to restart our 2010 preparation.
So, here we are in New York city, we arrived seven of us on Wednesday. For sure it's different than any city I have ever visited before, everything is so busy, the buildings are huge and the endless avenues make you feel really really little.
After a visit of Manhattan yesterday and a treadmill session to stay in good form, today we will go for a long run in Central Park.
The race is in three days, 45 000 runners will start in three waves , first one at 9:40 am, this is our start. Can't wait!
A bientot.
